Sprint and T-Mobile Aiming to Reach Merger Deal Next Week

.....Earlier this month, reports suggested Sprint and T-Mobile had once again resumed merger talks, and now it appears the two U.S. carriers may be close to inking a deal.

According to Reuters, Sprint and T-Mobile have "made progress" negotiating merger terms and are aiming to complete deal talks as soon as next week.

T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom and Sprint parent company SoftBank are said to be discussing an agreement that would "dictate how they exercise voting control over the combined company."

This could allow Deutsche Telekom to consolidate the combined company on its books, even if it does not have a majority stake in the combined company, one of the sources added. Deutsche Telekom owns more than 63 percent of T-mobile, while SoftBank owns 84.7 percent of Sprint.

Previous merger talks between Sprint and T-Mobile failed after the two companies were unable to reach "mutually agreeable terms." Sprint parent company SoftBank was said to be unsatisfied with the deal because of ownership terms, with SoftBank concerned about losing control of the combined company after Deutsche Telekom requested a controlling stake.

If T-Mobile and Sprint are able to establish a satisfactory deal, the combined company would have more than 100 million customers.

Sources that spoke to Reuters said there is "no certainty" a deal will be reached, given the dissolution of the previous merger talks.

here...........we..............go..........?!

:agree:

I left Sprint for T-Mobile and have been VERY happy.

Sprint keeps trying to get me to switch back; they shouldn't have farked me over in the first place.

Well, the merger has been agreed upon. Sprints owner has been courting 45 so it looks likely. Sprint's customers get the worst end. T-Mobile's "unlimited" is full of exceptions" and throttling.

??? What exceptions? By far the best customer service, plan options, and international costs.

Well there is unlimited and there is abuse of service. I get that they and the others have to limit grossly abused limits.

T-Mobile doesn’t actually offer unlimited data. Its signature ONE plan, which promises unlimited data for a family of four for $35 per month, comes with a long list of caveats. Tethering is capped at slow speeds, video and audio streams are capped at standard definition, and if you go over 28GB of data, you’re liable to be throttled for the rest of the month.

None of those restrictions mean T-Mobile’s plan is bad! If you only occasionally watch videos on the go, don’t tether often, and use a faintly reasonable amount of data, T-Mobile’s plan is cheap and has no risk of overage charges.

But it’s still not unlimited.

I was told that on the Senior Plan I signed up for, we both get UNLIMITED 4G/LTE service ON THE PHONE and, unlimited 3G service when tethering FROM the phone TO a tablet/laptop/etc. It's been about SIX months now since I switched to T-Mobile and, I'm as happy now as when I signed up.
