I pay for roadside assistance as part of my auto insurance. I forgot how much it costs but I'm pretty cheap so I image its only a couple of dollars. Definitely cheaper than AAA
It should be illegal to sell cars without spare tires

I won’t buy a vehicle that doesn’t have a spare tire. I’m not going to potentially wait hours for a tow.

I kept hearing so many good things about Volt here (Speedy, graylocks, ztirffritz) that this spare wheel thing completely fell under the radar. Also I don't think I was aware that some cars come without spare wheel at the time.

I found that I can get a space saver spare for my Kia Soul. It comes with the rim, tire, and jack. They have them on Amazon. I think they were like $225 or so delivered. I may get one. There is a place for it, but it will add a little weight.

What I hate is the idea that this can happen on the evening even of the public holiday and then you have no reasonable/affordable way of getting to your destination. Or they don't have the tire in stock and need to special order it.

FYI you can buy a can of Fix a Flat for $8-$9 at many department stores. I would guess Chevy charges more for there brand.
