anybody have any Thanksgiving table political battles?

After all the talk about it, did anyone here witness, hear about or participate in any tense political discussions over the Thanksgiving weekend?

Or are you saving it for alcohol-fueled Christmas family get-togethers? (The hearings should be wrapping up then and addition witness called, evidence unearthed and charges added.)

We mostly don’t see the Deplorables in our family anymore since they started to hole up in their house with their guns and MREs and TVs tuned to Faux News and radios that only pick up the 91% of talk radio that is hate.

My non-nuclear relatives do an amazing job of smiling through gritted teeth. We were all on good behavior.

My niece's husband mentioned when I first saw him that San Francisco had a record cold spell so I knew what was coming next, but he disappeared and didn't encounter him again. This is the guy who looked at a blue and red election results map in 2012 and asked why Obama won when the map was almost all red.

Yes...

my Brother in Law is areal piece of work and wouldn't let things go, die, settle....ended the 'discussion' with a barb..

"you're being brainwashed by MSNBC and CNN"

I dont respond to shit like this...the guy, for all major purposes, barely even knows me..and he was in MY house..

yes, he voted for Trump...but he's been completely quiet about until; now for some reason..i mean, we figured..now it's sort of leaking out like a sludgy dark grey green thing. the stuff that kills you when you go Sepsis..

We save all the political battles for Purim.

And we're not even Jewish.

Not really. Just calming our daughter down when she goes on a rant about the current admin. Not that we disagree with her...

It was just me and Mrs Markintosh for Thanksgiving this year. It's the first time we've done that in 37 years together. We've always had family in town or taken in strays. It was a different feeling.

She suggested going out, but we did a Safeway complete Thanksgiving meal, plus some salmon on the BBQ for the Mrs.

So no arguments with the only deplorables in the family...the ones that came last year. Wink

Ours was quiet. My BIL even chuckled when my wife passed around a photo I took of an election yard sign that said "Any Functioning Adult / 2020". He and my wife, then me as well, got into it regarding a comment my wife said about Trump at a family dinner earlier this fall. My SIL just laughed.
