I still have a huuuge back log of lyrics that I have never looked up.

Growing up w/o Google, you either had liner notes, or you had nothing.

(liner notes were something that came with an "LP" that often included the song lyrics)*

One of my favorite discoveries was with a The Dead Milkmen song called Sri Lanka Sex Hotel

The line is "Coming over the first hill"

I always heard it as "Call me Nova, the Brazil"

As absurd as that is, I never really thought, "This can't be right"

And I've still got hundreds...

Sadly this 'issue' does not exist with the current popular music.
Repeated loops of mispronounced words* overlaid on repeated loops of
sampled tracks and synths.
*often processed thru autotune.
