As a white male, I fail to see anything overtly racist in the depiction of Aunt Jemima, even though it may have originally been based on a racist minstrel stereotype. She was just a nice, smiling lady on some syrup that I recall from my childhood. Is it a win that the rebrand is as boring as it is inoffensive or is it more offensive that a piece of black history was erased?

It's got dicey roots. They were aware of it and tried to address it over the years. Jemima got more stylish. But, the question really is what was the most appropriate way to handle it in 2020? Things got heated and they made an executive decision. Outside of my control or thoughts.
Unnoticed at the same time is Jake from State Farm suddenly changed his race last summer. Corporations. Whatareyagonnado?

we use Log Cabin. No high fructose corn syrup, just the regular corn syrup. =)

Corn syrup with caramel coloring and artificial maple flavoring doesn't compare to the genuine maple syrup that I use.
:agree: Wholeheartedly!!
It tastes fine you sophisticated gents.
I'm gonna go with Vision63 on this one, at least in as much as it depends what you were raised on. I had only ever had Aunt Jemima and Mrs. Butterworth's (exact same fake product from two different manufacturers) until I was in my late 20s when a friend got some genuine Vermont Maple Syrup and offered to make pancakes for brunch. When I tried it, I found the real stuff to be WAY too sweet, too thin, and to have much too strong a maple flavor for my liking. Had I grown up eating the real thing I'd no doubt find the fake stuff to be but a pale and imperfect reflection of the genuine article, but since the less intense and thicker fake stuff is what I'm used to it is what I prefer.

I'm syrup-agnostic, in that I'm not a syrup snob- they all taste ok or better, to me.
I've had some off brand 'real' maple syrup from Safeway, that was different, but good.
I grew up on different generic syrups, Log Cabin, Aunt Jemima, any brand name was a treat for us.
Not that our unwashed palettes new any better.
As long as it's maple flavored and not strawberry, blueberry, or berriberry, I'm ok with it.
I do think a lot, though not all of this rebranding is silly, but it's not my call.

Never knew that syrup was milled, and more specifically milled from pearls.
See, you learn something every day! Wouldn’t you expect it to be more expensive, knowing this??
Stupid name and I do not enjoy putting something like this near my food. I actually don’t go wild for any kind of syrup, even the real kind. I’d just rather have savory stuff. My other half will eat anything sweet, so he likes this and even the generic sugar free version! Ick!

Something was wrong with it if it was "thin." I have the feeling that you had "maple flavored syrup" instead of maple syrup.
The real stuff comes in different grades, with varying weight, color and flavor-profiles. (Personally, I like a dark amber "smoky" maple syrup.) If you're in the North East, I suggest that you look for some when the unspoken thing is over and you can visit a state fair. The producers can explain the differences and you might just find one or two types that are palatable.

It's the name of the company that originally produced the pancake mix and syrup before it came to Pepsi Corp.

Never cared for Maple, this southern boy prefers the twang of Cane Syrup
