WaPo, but you know the rest anyway…
Lisa Steadman…had spent more than a week in a Central Florida hospital recovering from a serious case of covid-19 while Ronald Steadman, who had also contracted the coronavirus, battled a milder case from home.
But Ronald, 55, did not appear to be home when Lisa returned Aug. 11.
When Lisa cracked open the door [to their bedroom], she found Ron unresponsive on his side of the bed and their three dogs in distress. By then, his body had already begun decomposing…
How could this happen?
Neither Ron, who died of covid-19 complications, nor Lisa had been vaccinated, Lisa said. Both had agreed they would wait longer to schedule their shots.
… She added: “We wanted to make sure [getting vaccinated] was safe.”
Kind of a moot point now.

Not that it matters now, but I'm curious as to whether that's the truth, or if they were anti-vaxxers, and she's walking it back.
I don't know either way, and am not placing a bet.
That's still sad, either way.
More wondering:
Did he realize he was worse than he thought?
Did he try to call for help?
Were there no ambulances available?
Would there have been room at the inn, given all the unvaccinated people filling hospitals?
Yeah, all moot now.

I thought it was going to be "in bed with her sister or best friend or both, and she shot them all."
Sad situation, makes me wonder what social support they had. She was hospitalized and he was very sick and nobody checked in on him?

Perhaps he thought it was no worse than the flu and the local feed store was out of ivermectin so he’d just tough it out. Not sad if it convinces some of the cult to get the vaccine.
Stupid goes only so far when there is a killer virus in the neighborhood. I bet he had plenty of ammo for his never-used gun.
I love stories like this that have such a great ending!

That is a tragedy.
I can attest that the very bad symptoms can come on super fast, and can be completely disabling. Fortunately I had family here.

For her to even question whether the vaccine was safe or not just so she’s a victim of dangerous misinformation.

I too was expecting a floozie to be involved.
If the deceased hubby was truly decomposing, the windows should have been COVERED in flies and, just walking through the door, the stench should have been overwhelming. :barf:

Denial. "It can't be happening to me. I'm healthy, I'm hardy, I have good genes, I never get the flu."

If the dogs were closed into that room, I BET they were distressed!
