leafy greens you eat

I hate most vegetables, and most I like, I hate them cooked.

But as far as green, leafy goes:

Yea — Iceberg, Romaine, spinach (raw only)

Nay — cilantro, and probably most every other kind of green leafy vegetable.

Not exactly a meal-time green or anything resembling tasty, but the single best green I've found for nutrition is still a very particular strain of wild cyanobacteria algae called Aphanizomenon flos-aqua. Been eating it daily for 30 years, and one of the best anti-inflammatory solutions I've found. I get it in bulk (by the pound) and mix with OJ for eye-opening mud drink every morning.

Do you have a way of verifying the purity or consistency of what you buy? I'd like to try, but I'm wary of snake.oil and ingesting things from which I can't get good provenance. Thanks!

The Oregon Development of Environmental Quality and Oregon Health Authority became very strict with their testing protocols about 20 years ago, and the top harvesting companies follow those guidelines. I'm no longer sure how many harvesters there are, but the companies I trust are Source Naturals, Pure Synergy, and BRI Nutrition. BRI's been a direct harvester for decades, and their price is probably the best. All of these can be found on Amazon. I used to be deeply involved in that world, and used it as an ingredient in one of my own manufactured products, so I still can get it by the kilo at wholesale. But in general, it's not an expensive supplement any more (a lot of competition). I still eat heroic doses of it daily, around a tablespoon a day, which is way more than the suggested effective amt. Generally 1-2 500mg caps is the most people's daily.
