Advice for setting up Netgear Nighthawk X4S Extender

I have an open box Nighthawk X4S extender. It did not come with a quick start guide. I am trying to get a signal to my basement to a top floor xfinity router. Anyone have any experience with this? I am not a tech savvy person. I managed to get 2 solid signal lights but I did not see the augmented name of the wifi network.
Any advice much appreciated.

Test with the extender close to your router.

Then find a good location for the extender.

Thanks for that info. I will try to figure it out. The Netgear chat person had a service person contact me but they wanted a “one time access” to my set up and I did not feel comfortable with that as friends have had their network compromised. Am I just paranoid? Yes, most definitely
