The fact that leftist are pushing the issue on the other end is falling right into their trap.
"The left," if you mean Democrats, protects the civil rights of minorities. Even very small groups like transgender, nonbinary individuals. Nobody is "pushing " anything, transgender people exist, and deserve civil rights.
Rights that are constantly under attack by social conservatives/Republicans always on the lookout for new fundraising scare tactics.
That's what we do. If everyone did only what they thought was politically expedient, this would be a horrible country to live in.

I will say this. Dylan Mulvaney is a nobody. He has done nothing but shout for attention. I know a few trans persons, I know a few drag queens (Not the same thing) I know a few butch lesbians. Also not trans persons.
To a person, most of them do not want any attention. They want to live thier lives in peace. I once had to put myself between a drunk homosexual friend and hate/fear in the body of a handsome man. I told my friend I'm sorry he had to be careful. He eventually found happiness.
The ad exec who decided to make Dylan Mulvaney the face of Bud Light was an idiot, Like many on the left, this person cannot imagine anyone having an opinion diverging from his own. Just like those on the hard right.
That is the problem
The right wingers who shout "groomer!" are allied to the right wingers endorsing child labor and child marriage! Does that make sense?
Does it make sense that leftists are endorsing life changing 'treatments" for children who claim to be trans, when it seems to be pretty obvious they are victims of their parent's Munchausen by Proxy syndrome.
Tomboyish girls are not trans (generally), neither are Gay boys (generally).
Let them be children.
Let them play dress up if they wish. Protect them from violence.
Let them grow up.
Then let them make their own decisions.
And stop infantilizing young adults who make stupid choices.

Woah. Somebody does not understand what it means to be transgender, and has bought into right wing phobias, bigotry and misinformation.

Have you put equal effort into condemning people of all gender expressions for the same behavior?

Protecting civil rights is a core value I have as an American. There are plenty of 'left'-leaning folk who are trying to reduce the rights of their political opponents. I grew up in Illinois - just see how Chicago has been run by Dems.
Partisan gerrymandering has been practiced by both sides, and it's wrong in my view whichever side is doing it.
My view of the 'trap' that was mentioned is not the core value of protecting civil rights. It's that over-reacting to loonies on the right (like MTG) - even when it's great for fundraising in the short-term - only amplifies the MTGs of the world. They need to be ignored.

Somehow this cultural topic enabled them to get this power.
We need to find a way for the central 90% of this country to take back our politics.
EDIT: fixed a typo

I don't see what that has to do with protecting civil rights for trans individials, something ONLY the left has shown an interest in. Rolando is clearly talking about that activity by Democrats, as if we are supposed to ignore these bigoted attacks and harmful laws that put lives at risk.
Gerrymandering seems like a topic for another thread.

The trap is to unintentionally amplify the loonies like MTG.
I think the right amplify the extreme left politicians, though there seem to be fewer who are completely out of their minds.

I agree that is A trap, also a childish waste of time that has nothing to do with real policy making. That is the stuff that matters.
