Israel launched airstrikes across the Gaza Strip early Tuesday, killing hundreds of Palestinians, including women and children, according to the territory’s Health Ministry. The surprise bombardment shattered a ceasefire in place since January and threatened to fully reignite the 17-month-old war.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 404 people were killed in the strikes and more than 560 were wounded.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the strikes because of a lack of progress in talks to extend the ceasefire. The White House said it had been consulted and voiced support for Israel’s actions. The Israeli military ordered people to evacuate eastern Gaza, including much of the northern town of Beit Hanoun and other communities further south, and head toward the center of the territory, indicating that Israel could soon launch renewed ground operations

Separately, The Jerusalem Post reports the following...
The Israeli security cabinet convened an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss a culmination of alerts over the past few weeks that indicate that Hamas has been making preparations for another invasion into Israeli territory, N12 reported.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the strikes because of a lack of progress in talks to extend the ceasefire. Defense Minister Israel Katz said fighting would continue until all hostages were released.

A total of 59 hostages are still being held by Hamas. Of those, Israel believes 35 are dead.

A senior Hamas official says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to launch widespread strikes on the Gaza Strip amounts to a “death sentence” for the remaining hostages held there.

In a statement early Tuesday, Izzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, accused Netanyahu of resuming the war to try and save his far-right governing coalition.

“Netanyahu’s decision to return to war is a decision to sacrifice the (Israeli) occupation’s captives and a death sentence against them,” he said.

I have few doubts this is linked to the Houthi bombardment by U.S. forces.

There are evil governments on this planet right now. In charge of what should be functioning peace-making democracies. Instead bringing death and escalation of violence and injustice.

We are one.

Israel is another.
