As someone who is probably sending an actual Pismo (G3-500/512/airport/60 gig) 'mo down the road, I ask:

What did you get for it?

They are awesome computers.

I bought a mint condition Pismo 500 in 2003 for $550 off eBay. Runs OS X pretty well and really takes care of my portable needs.

I love my Pismo.

I sold my Pismo--G3-500/768/airport/60 gig/DVD/CD rom/ZIP/power supply--for $475.
I might put it toward a MacBook. Maybe. Watching to see how the plastic-staining issue will be resolved.

NOOOOOO! Not the Pismo! Oh well, guess one has to eventually move on, but I sure do like mine. I admit, I do tend to hold on to things a tad too long, but, hey, this thing does everything I need running Tiger fast enough for me.

Somebody got a great Mac.

Arrrgghhhhh! Bad mommy! Bad mommy! Smile

I gave mine to my sister in law last year. Yes, I like my 17" PB, but I'm still in love with "my" Pismo. I haven't even had a chance to go visit it. Sad The 17" does let me do some things on the go that the Pismo couldn't handle, but Pis was sooo handsome. And smart. And reliable. I feel like such a traitor to a good friend. Can you tell I still miss it?

My biggest issue is screen brightness. I've done the light replacement (replace light in existing LCD). But it is still dim compared to a modern LCD.

Still, I'll keep using it as long as possible. I'm fortunate enough to have a PowerMac for heavy lifting, so while this old dude is my primary machine, I do have options when I need power.

I was thinking a new MacBook might be a Father's Day option. But I had to buy a new engine for one of our vehicles instead. Funny how disposable income becomes non-optional expenses like that.
