The Starbucks "bootleg latte"--Starbucks' official response
#71
Herpie, you still haven't answered me.

How much free milk can one add before crossing the line into sleazeballiness?

Would you be bothered if I got a shot of espresso and then filled my cup with water to make another drink (Americano?)

"I'm not sure why you made that post in this thread, but I'll bite: what was it you had in mind?"

I made my post because I thought I could gain some new insight by approaching the discussion from a different angle.

"Why would you WANT to pay for something that's free, Mike?"

I wouldn't. Now I may be confused on what it is exactly that YOU are trying to say here, (and I doubt I would be the only one) but it seems like you are leaning towards people not taking things that are free. Is that right? Honestly, I don't know where you stand.

"Are you saying that Starbucks' Venti Iced Lattés are free?!?"

No, but if they were would you be okay with it?

I was posing a question to the forum to see what people thought about the idea of paying for something that has no price. If something is free do you feel obligated to pay for it? If someone went into Starbucks and filled a cup with milk, then went to the register to pay for it do you think the cashier would accept money? The official Starbucks policy (as we now know it) would be to let that customer walk out without paying a cent.

2. Why does Starbuck's think the practice is okay? What do you think their profit margin is on a $4 latte? It is frikking coffee! If you want to know how much coffee should cost try making it yourself at home (hint: it wont cost $4).
you obviously haven't made a home version of any starbucks drink, once you have tried to duplicate one of their products at home you will find that they offer a fair price for a good product.....if the profit margins were as high as you think they are, BK, Wendys, mickey dees, and every other fast food establishment would be wanting a piece of that pie...
LOL! You are obviously the type of customer that Starbuck's likes (ie. willing to over-pay for coffee). Please keep it up, cause I am a shareholder!
you don't know anything about coffee, why would you have stock in starbucks?

That's a joke, right?

If it's not then you really need to rethink your investment strategy assuming you have one.

I still want herpie to tell me if it bothers him if I add water to my espresso shot to make an americano.
