I'm glad I live in the U.S.A where you're innocent until proven guilty.
There was no question about the perp's guilt in this case.
Too bad he went and got hisself all shot up an' kilt!

Which is why police should avoid escalating a situation.
What if someone else had answered the door? Would an innocent bystander been shot?

[quote RAMd®d]You quite openly contradicted yourself with those statements.
Actually, I didn't.
The sad thing is, most people well never be able to comprehend that. You've demonstrated that with your statement.
It's there in plain English. You said there are risks involved with the job and then turned around and said that cops are not paid to get shots fired at them. And, then you continue to say, "Sadly, it does go with the territory."
Yes, Virginia, they are paid to have shots fired at them. Last time I checked that was a risk, no? It's also a risk that most people are not willing undergo for a $42,000/year starting salary. That's why so little people register for the academy and even less complete it.
If they do not understand "shoot to maim and not to kill" and are not mentally prepared to take those risks in the practical application and not just the theoretical training sense, then I don't want them "protecting" me. The same goes for the scumbag cops who don't want adhere to "shoot to maim and not to kill" .

Unless you're a cop.
That's because they screwed so much in the past 150 years that people don't trust what comes out their mouths anymore. Ever heard of the "Blue Wall of Silence"? Yeah, that.
They are not above the law. It really is that simple.

cops as well as most people who undergo firearms training, are taught to aim/shoot at COM (Center of Mass). It's hard enough to hit that. It's nearly impossible to attempt and hit a person's leg, let's say, at distance, while either side if moving or partially obstructed.
I am not candoning this action. Just making note of the reality of lethal weapon training. Just look up "Double Tap", or "Shoot to stop".

I wasn't talking about the shooting, honey buns, I was talking about you. And you prove it with that statement. You've not only found him guilty of robbery, but rape as well. You and Tom Cruise would make a good team in the future crimes department. You could bury the minority reports.
Re-read that article. He had three roomates. How do you know they had the right guy, even if they did have the right house? Or does the end justify the means in your country?
I'm not going to say the cops were right or wrong, because 1) I wasn't there and 2) the person who wrote the article wasn't there. So, unless you have some inside info that we don't have, how do you know that "There was no question about the perp's guilt in this case."? All we know is what's written in the article, and that was written by a third party. Your extrapolations might be right on or out in la-la land. Do you think real life is like TV, where the bad guys explicitly known & identified?
Regardless, there will always be a "cops can do no wrong" group and a "Cops are evil pigs" group. As usual, the truth lies in the middle. In this case, no one knows what the truth is, yet.
And on another note, to say cops aren't paid to get shot at is ridiculous. They aren't paid enough to be shot at, for sure. This is like saying the Marines aren't paid to be shot at. They certainly aren't paid enough for it.

Inferrence is the fodder of lynch mobs.
Why is it the cops are guilty before proven innocent or justified and the injuried party is innocent before proven guilty ?
Bias ?

Has anyone shot and killed the cops who killed the kid? Not to my knowledge. So who's saying they're guilty before proven innocent?
Overall I'm just saying the kid deserved the same treatment the cops are getting. He was still only a "suspect." The allegations haven't been proven.

You're a sweet, sensitive, man, and you should send flowers to the dirtbag's family.
Heaven forbid that some criminal ever bashes in the head of one of YOUR loved ones...but should that happen, I'll be sure to send flowers to the family of the criminal too.
