I need new Printable CD-Rs, Recommendations?
#1
I need to stock up on a good number of printable CDR medias. I would like to get somewhat high-quality disks, looking at Verbatim at the moment.

Just one main question: What's the difference between White and Silver inkjet printable media? I've always used white, and although silver has been around a while, I never investigated it.

I have an Epson R300 printer.

(I realize it's probably answered on the interwebnet, but I did a quick google of a few terms, all I got out of it were purchasing links. Google is starting to get too fixated on providing purchase links for my taste)

Also, there was someone who mentioned a spray they used to help seal the printed disks against water. Any further info would be appreciated.

I only use the silver ones, have for two years now. I get ProDisc from CDRDVDRMedia.com

http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/ns...ique=45b68&catalog=cdrdvdrmedia&et=45a46270&basket=b%3D5C3c42bfd100a45645a45b68a3401d342bfd1d2c83944bfea33ab03da9e11812a%26l%3D1bkik10hksqqq/o%26s%3DE7GqZzHJn_nEuTNQLQSFl2YuMuw-

I prefer the silver because it gives a nice mirrored look which can't be produced on white inkjet media or on labels. It's a nice touch for being amateur produced. I'm not familiar with any spray.

I tend to use Prodisc, Ridata, and Tayo Yuden media - depending on availablity and price/ budget for the project.

I use the white media - makes colors really pop out..

The spray is either Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear (Gloss) http://www.krylon.com/main/product_templ...?levelid=5&sub_levelid=8&productid=1736&content=product_details
or Matte Finish http://www.krylon.com/main/product_templ...?levelid=5&sub_levelid=8&productid=1816&content=product_details

The Matte is also great for ink-jet business cards or disc labels.

Are Meriteline, CDDVDMedia.com, and Super Media Store all the same place?

So confusing. They all have nearly the same prices and seemingly the same sucky checkout.

I want the stuff somewhat soon, I got pissed off at Meritline's checkout process (not being able to see each shipping charge), so I moved on, the rest have the same issue.

It's just retarded not to allow the customer to see their shipping options and charges for each one. Not to mention some pretty high shipping costs considering what I was buying...

Argh.

Geeze, so I finally decide to go with Meritline for most of my order.

Guess what? Can't seem to do that. Get to the page where I input credit info and it just sits there. Been about 15 minutes now. I'm really getting annoyed now.

I finally got annoyed enough to sit and click the continue button 30+ times. 10 seconds later, it went to the next page.

Retailers should not annoy their customers so much..

Anyway, I settled on 200 Ridata White Hub Printable + 200 Ridata Silver Hub Printable. Either way, they'll be used somewhere.

I also got 24 of the cheap Epson inks. Hopefully those do well. I hear them on sale very often, but I never see any complaints about them in the same threads...

Thanks for your suggestions/help. I wasn't fully sure the silvers worked on Epsons. Guess I'll try them myself and see which I prefer.
