I especially like it when the Wicked Witch of Westboro leans in for her solo

Is it just me, or does it seem like they're singing about themselves?

I always get these a-holes confused with the Landover Baptist Church satirical web site. Then I realize the Westboro Baptist Church of God is so over the top and not a bit funny and that I've gotten confused again.

But it's hard for me to accept that Westboro Baptist Church of God isn't a fake also, just a really crass, in poor taste fake. I can't believe those people are real. I couldn't even watch the entire video -- I couldn't stand looking at those f*cktards any longer.

What a bunch of inbred hicks! I went to a Church of God once with girl I was dating and I
got up and left halfway through the service, I couldn't take it anymore. The saddest part of
the video is the little girl at the end, she doesn't stand a chance.

Does hate+hate=love? I know they "deserve" it, but how does it help? kj.

Holy crap, that was hysterical and appalling at the same time.
The smiling, singing faces of hatred, all proclaiming that everyone
should go to hell.

...and the best part is it's not ony tax exempt but eligible for federal funds from the faith based initiative act. Whos says a few dedicatited people can't change things. Look what a few dedeicated neocons have achieved.

How about: "As a Christian, I am appalled that these hateful creeps claim to be my coreligionists. I denounce and disavow them. Please do not think their narrow and misguided hatred is in any way representative of Christian thought."

Or, you could just keep trying to pretend that liberals are hypocrites for mocking the lunacy of the religious right.

I think they're wrong, but I'm not going to join you in hating or mocking them. I don't think it's good in any way. And I already know you guys know it isn't representative of most people.

How could I call you hypocrites? I don't think you have any problem with mocking people, obviously, so how could it be hypocritical? I am wondering how you think it makes this world a better place to hate and mock. They hate, you hate back. Not effective, unless your goal is a world full of hate.

Actually, no. I am assuming that these knuckleheads occupy a thin spot on the distribution, but I do not know that the hatred they preach is incompatible with the teachings of evangelical Christianity. Certainly they are distinguishable from the likes of Jerry Falwell, or Ted Haggard, or Pat Robinson only by the method they use to broadcast their hatred. And I have never heard anyone but Bill Moyers voice any disapprobation, as a Christian, of this kind of hate-filled evangelism.

I don't expect this will make much sense to you, but it is not hatred. It is reprehension. The free exercise clause of the first amendment gives legal cover to all manner of reprehensible behavior, but the fact that something cannot be, and should not be, made illegal, does not mean that it must be tolerated. Ignoring them is not an option, when national news outlets insist of giving them a platform. Reasoned debate is not an option, because they are not reasonable. Which leaves only public censure and ridicule. Which is not the same thing as hatred.
