I also posted this in a similar thread a several lines above:
Is Apple one of the only computer makers actually making money anymore? I'm just curious, as I literally have no idea about any of their competitors' profits... Jeff

[quote Mike Johnson]And 270,000 iPhones in the first two days
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/07-25-2007/0004632759&EDATE= That is 270,000 iPhones and iPhone related products made by Apple and third parties. The financial report does not break that down further into how many of that number were iPhones. So depending on how many of those sales were an iPhone and a case, or other product, that could mean as few as 135,000 iPhones. Since AT&T has said 146,000 were activated during that end of quarter period, that gives a lower bound. What the actual total was, only Apple and possibly AT&T knows.

Apple reiterated in the conference call Q&A session that the 270,000 number is the number of phones they sold.

So depending on how many of those sales were an iPhone and a case, or other product, that could mean as few as 135,000 iPhones. That is incorrect. In the conference call, it was clearly and unequivocally stated that iPhone units sold was 270,000. See this statement from Apple: http://images.apple.com/pr/pdf/q307data_sum.pdf (PDF)

I did not hear the conference call but the PDF statement clearly says:
iPhone and related products and services (6) -- 270,000 then (6) Consists of iPhones and Apple branded and third party iPhone accessories So somebodies wrong. Not that it matters, 150k iPhones in 1.5 days is still a huge number and AAPL is way up. The number I find incredible is the year/year sale of portables. Those are up a whopping 42% over last year.
