[quote jdc][quote PeterB]Haven't seen it, but I've heard "The Great Debaters" is quite good. Jurnee Smollett has grown up mighty fine (Google for her if you don't know who she is).
so i googled her and i still dont know who she is...

... she was a child actress in "Eve's Bayou"...

I enjoyed Sweeney Todd except for the gore. Seven throat slitings, i believe (may have lost count).

Awesome sets and a great tracking shot near the beginning.

No one's mentioned "No Country for Old Men" yet. Definitely my 2007 favorite. Although I have to second Juno. Superb.

Saw Sweeney Todd yesterday and it was good. Lots of blood, but the casting and acting was very good. Depp does a good job with the singing and Sacha Cohen (Borat) was excellent, as were all the supporting cast members.

Wow, funny how a movie rec thread will get three responses sometimes and 20 at others.
Thanks for the recommendations-- they seem pretty consistent; any others appreciated.
