One of our own is gone
I know I don't post here much as of late and was very shocked to hear of Spearmints passing. Sorry to see someone go that has been here for some time.

Mint was a walking Sports Illustrated. I'll miss him. He did not foresee Kobe as MVP.

Kobe got it not Baron Davis. He foresaw Lakers-Pistons in the final. Probably will be

true Hope he wins the Tommy Burger off me. Here's his last PM to me.

Kobe Bryant stuttered with 52 points today. I love them Lakers.

Refereeing today was spectacular "made for TV" bad. Kinda negated a great game for me. What was with not fouling Kidd and letting Dirk shot the three at the end of regulation?

Commissioner should have stepped in on Gasol trade.

Hate to admit it but Lakers figure to come out of West. Detroit Lakers finals going to be a classic. Leaning towards Pistons although hard to gauge Eastern teams because the weak competition that has inflated the top teams' records. I am not a Boston believer.

Suns with Shaq. 2-4. Big mistake. Now he is a high visibility role player. Still can rebound but slows team. Steve Kerr says he would take blame for a mistake. Get ready Steve.

Lakers--Celtics?

Keep comin' back, it works.

Tom O. (33 years).

Naah. Detroit and it's worth a Tommy's Burger if you are feeling sporty.

Used to have Bulls season tickets for a while in the Bob Love era. Try to be loyal here in Bay Area but oh those Warriors are fun. Stephen Jackson and Company could go into a couple of championship rounds and would beat anybody out in the parking lot or in the stands. Forget Kobe for mvp. Should be Baron Davis.

Just back from my holiday and saw the sad news. Didn't agree with a lot of what he said on the political side but I will miss him and the forum has lost one of its real characters.

Wow. I'm late to the news. Just when our Cubbies were making a very serious run... Minty, you'll be missed.

I'm not here very often, but remember Spearmint from DM days. Sorry to hear the sad news. It's tough, too, to lose one of the few conservatives on this board.

Hey all,

mick e is late to the wake. It was very sad to read the news of 'minty's passing, but to read all the great tributes here lessens the sadness.

mick e still owes 'minty a frozen custard sundae from Copp's after a Brewers el-foldo from a few years ago. It is unfortunate that he was never able to make good on that bet.

RIP minty

Good GOD, he got on my nerves sometimes.

And at other times, he was just "good clean fun....." Although everyone can relate to Cubs tales, you really only connect if you've lived there (in that 50 mile radius).... or were socialized with WGN as part of your life... the '69 Cubs, the area, downtown, etc.

People just dropping out of your life, even as slight as the forum socialization is, can really be an eye-opener. Not for some, who place no value upon you while you're here, at least not until it's too late.

I'm just glad I had a few PM exchanges (multi-forum) with him relatively recent that were helpful to him, in some way, and that we get a chance to read an obit that will perhaps shed a little more light on who he was.

I am certain he was far more than we really could imagine.
