Don LaFontaine, the voiceover king whose "In a world ..." phrase on movie trailers was much copied -- and much parodied -- has died, according to media reports. He was 68.

He did a phenomenal job. Wish I had had the chance to work with him.

R.I.P.
I didn't know him by name, but that voice was so distinctive!

Reading the stories about him, I love how he handled his career. a very savvy guy, who turned his voice and business acumen into a great asset for us all. His self-pardoy work also showed that he didn't take himself seriously, which is a mark of a fun person.
He will be missed.

Was a great guy to work with, definitely at the top of his craft. He came in once to do 26 Babylon 5/ Timetrax /Kung Fu spots, and was done in under 20 minutes'
He would travel beetween studios in a limo, and once told me it wasn't a status thing, it was the only way to fit in all the work he did. We would fax the copy to him at another studio, he would go over it in the limo on the ride over, and walk in without having to worry about parking. He was, without a doubt, the busiest VO at least in the LA area.
I almost choked the first time I saw the Blockbuster commercial where they were keeping him in a cupboard under the front desk.
