I also don't see why folks are up in arms. To start, my house is outside cell phone range and I live in the city, so jimmypoo's silly cell phone diatribe is absurd. Also, getting stuck and unstuck is simply part of normal off-road driving in much of the west. The couple was competent enough to get themselves unstuck and they had blankets and water in the vehicle so they were relatively prepared. I agree that they should have had snow chains (and a decent jack and shovel) with them (I carry snow chains in my 4WD whenever I'm offroading, summer or winter), but many off-roaders don't for some odd reason.
