Could be. That's certainly more our experience (if my analysis of changing the case I used with my iBook is valid). I very rarely carried that iBook anywhere except closed, to and from the case.
That is one huge advantage of the unibody Macs. The ones I have looked at are far stiffer than anything I can remember over the last 8 years or so. I hope it makes them a lot more dependable over time.
