Hackintosh thoughts, part 2
#1
Here is my laundry list of parts for this build. I know I could spend less but I am not looking to downgrade my speed and need some horsepower for my main workstation.

Motherboard
- Gigabyte LGA1366 SATA3 ATI CrossFireX ATX Motherboard GA-X58A-UD3R

CPU
- Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz
I looked at the extreme edition CPU ($1k for the chip alone ::o) but I would get better performance with a SSD and over-clocking the CPU.

CPU Cooler
- Zalman CNPS9900LED Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler
Every time I overclock, I get the best cooler I can find and this sucker is HUGE!

Video Card
- EVGA GeForce GTX460 1 GB Superclocked GDDR5 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card

Case
- Antec Three Hundred Gaming Case
I have some quiet fans in my storage area that fit this case that will now get some use. I built a PC for my wife with this case and I found it very roomy, well constructed and more importantly, quiet.

Optical Drives (2)
- Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98

Power Supply
- Corsair Professional Series Gold High Performance 750-Watt Power Supply CMPSU-750AX

Boot HD
- Samsung 256 GB Solid State Drive MZ-5PS256
Fast drive with lots of positive reviews.

RAM
- Crucial CT2KIT25664BA1339 4GB 2GBx2 240-pin PC3-10600 DIMM DDR3 Memory
Will be adding 16 GB later on (2 of this set: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333)

Extra storage
I will be using 3 x 2TB WD Black drives from my MacPro on this rig.

Total out of pocket will be $1780, or a net cost of $1695 after $95 back in rebates.

Am I missing anything? I am busy for the next week and will not have any time to put this together, which gives me a few days to think about this project. If this works out, I will sell my MP (quad 2.66, 16GB RAM, no scratches/dings, original box) on CL/Ebay (I am guessing I can get at least $1500 (probably more) so the new computer will not cost all that much to build, that considered).

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for the prior advice and encouragement everyone!
