I have about 200 blank CD-Rs sitting here, slowly rotting.
Until I got an iPod for the car, I kept copies of all my audio CDs in folios in the car. I also made frequent mix-CDs for road trips. They took up most of the back seat.
Now those music CDs are sitting in a box and I haven't burnt a CD-R for anything other that a Linux ISO for a long loooong time. No need to make a mix when a playlist works as well.
CD-Rs don't hold enough data to act as backups anymore. Neither do DVDs, really. 'Still waiting for an affordable archival Blu-ray (or other high-capacity WORM disc) solution...
