I know almost nothing about him other than a vague impression that he behaves like a knucklehead on a television show. He's a professional clown who is apparently savvy enough to work his fifteen minutes of fame into a nice sized pile of cash. Where's the crisis?
His schtick probably appeals mostly to people that aren't exactly rocket scientists or are still pretty immature, but entertainment always has and probably always will have that type of stuff as a large part of its make up. I still have no problem finding entertainment up and down the smartypants continuum. Some Shakespeare on Great Performances, a little Sherlock Holmes on Masterpiece theater, some blues or jazz on Ovation, Lost, Rubicon, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, House, Fringe, when I want something a little fluffier.
Seems like pretty much the same old world to me.
