Not suggesting it's ok or in any way saying people should do it but it certainly is possible for some to be able to handle it from a mental aspect.
I've no scientific evidence to back this up but I'm guessing based on kids exposure to technology, games, etc., it's not going to be nearly as taxing mentally on future drivers as it is on the rest of us currently.
Far more distracting is a solo parent driving with a child in the vehicle. The constant "Mom...mom, look...mom...MOM!" (as an example) is as bad or even worse as most phone conversations while driving.
