What file format to send to an iPad?

Can you upload the PDF to a web server? If so, you should be able to use Safari on the iPad to locate the online PDF and open it.

I can do it on my iPhone 3GS, iOS 3.1.3, but maneuvering through the actual document is a little rough on the small screen.
