any medicine to reduce coughing? is Codeine over the counter is US?

Last couple times i had a bad cough, some stuff called Delsym worked really well for me... Don't know what the active ingredient is, I finished the bottle a year ago, and haven't restocked since, but if I get a bad cough again, that's where I'm going to start.
