well, i do evals for a living and I stand by my previous statement. Schizophrenic, bipolar, or some sort of drug-induced psychosis / mania.
That's based on very little info, of course, but i've seen writing / thoughts like that before. Time will reveal more info.

It's really sad that the behavior that got him kicked out of community college didn't lead to some really good intervention and therapy. He lived at home, the parents must have lacked the resources and/or knowledge to get him some help. That moment seems to be the beginning of his full marginalization and isolation. At least one of his classmates, a 50-something year old woman, reported being afraid that he would bring a gun to class and sent a friend a detailed email about his behavior, the friend still had the email and sent it to the NY Times.
So this stuff was going on years before this incident.
His friends said he liked school, but he obviously didn't have the social and coping skills to be successful there...we'll never know what might've helped and what could've prevented this tragedy.
well said. I would love to hear about what his high school experience was like, as he sounds like one of the kids I work with. We've had a few that we were certainly afraid of...
