Newt makes his living as a perpetual candidate for president. What else does he do? I don't see how he could have much credibility on the national stage following the inflammatory public remarks he's made since 9/11. This man doesn't need anyone to demonize him, he manages fine on his own.
My money is on Mitt Romney for Republican candidate 2012. Mitch Daniels might have a shot, he seems to be trying hard to position himself as a moderate lately.

I'll agree.. BUT.. by the same token Mizz Palin fills the same job description (while adding foolish to the 'traits').
At the same time, President Obama has done a yeoman job of dragging his identity firmly into the center.. a Clintonian move that, barring disaster, will ensure him a second term.
A clear case of a President realizing that his job is to represent all the people, not just his Party.
I've been following the career of Barack Obama since before his 2004 convention speech, he's never been anything but moderate.
