How good are amplified indoor HDTV antennas?

Ammo, you do not necessarily need an amplified antenna. I use a rooftop antenna with my HDTV: Wineguard model HD7694, tuned specifically for channels 7-69, with a range of 30 miles for VHF and 25 for UHF. Works great! Picture quality is excellent; way better than cable. Costs about $60.
