Well... I was stuck in Maui for almost 28 years. I first visited Oahu in August of 1968. Sad to say:jest: that first visit created a virus and an addiction to fragrant flowers and warm ocean breezes.
Living in the Islands does help one to escape many of life's realities and
experience some remote laissez-faire.
