Have to swap out Comcast modem (rental) - which one to ask for?

we've only been on cable since the beginning of the year (just moved) and have a 1 year price of $80/month for internet and cable TV. Not sure if we're going to stay after the year is up (I mean with cable, we will definitely be staying in the new house), so I don't want to buy a modem just yet.

Besides, there's no guarantee swapping out the modem will fix my problem.

I will try to get a motorola modem this time.
