It's not like I don't go to over-the-hill concerts (at the insistence of the wife I recently attended a Johnny Mathis concert/wake), you couldn't pay me enough to attend a Sir Elton wake.
I've seen plenty of younger acts who don't put anywhere near as much into a performance as that man and his band did tonight. Granted, he's been doing the same stuff for decades so it's all on autopilot now, but what a great show all around, and I'm not a superfan by any means. I just like a good show. 30 minutes before he went on, I was sitting on the couch watching Clifford with my kids. Wasn't planning on going anywhere near the place for $100 a pop.
Having family in the media has its perks. I've seen plenty of great acts over the years for free.
