She dove right in, got unsatisfactory results, ie got nowhere.
She was clearly confused, said so, and remained so up to and including her last post.
The dive right in recommendation was BS, plain and simple.
Now, it may be true that by now she's got more information and doing better. But I'll wager if she got the help she was asking for in the first place, satisfactory results would have been much quicker, and aggravation-free.
The dive-right-in approach is not for the benefit of the confused user, but for the inveterate tinkerer, explorer, power user. And for those who can't or won't, for whatever reasons, offer more structured help.
Not that it's wrong, but it is what it is.
