Breeders of show dogs do the same thing: "discard" the "imperfect" ones. Breeders of animals for medical testing. Where is the line drawn? cbelt3's idea and public education (bombardment) are the best. However, it will not stop someone who is hell bent on having a purebred.
Oh, yeah, what about those LIVE lobsters, crabs and fish cramped in those giant tanks in the middle of a Chinese restaurants? They are delicious on a plate ... cooked.
