MacBook Pro repair?

There are two designs of magsafe connectors for MBPs; one (older, white) feeds the cord perpendicular to the frame, the other (newer, silver) has the cord parallel. The older connector is known to be suspect. I suggest you check the machine with a newer magsafe to see if it's the power cord rather than the logic board socket.
