Is the iPhone Better Than Android?
#16
I've read gushing reviews from Android OS users; most of them hate Apple and will never buy an Apple device, so they are biased right out of the gate. (Some might say in the same way that we Mac users are.)

market share news, with some interesting opinions & insights:

an earlier comparison of HTC EVO 4G vs iPhone 4 from July 2010:

this is a review from an Apple-hater:

I spent several days reading & reading about how to root or unlock the phone before I took the dive. I bought the phone a week ago and rooted it 7 days in! Rooting is equivalent to jailbreaking the iPhone, but you can do so much more even before you root the phone than you can on the iPhone. You're not restricted to their software & market apps.

Pros:
- huge screen, HUGE! It looks weird now to look at other phones
- 4G (if you live in an area w/it. Dallas does)
- plenty of android apps now, many that work with iPhones
- open source, linux based OS
- standard usb cable to charge, so it works with these universal USB charger dealies i already had. means i dont have to buy a separate car charger.
- it will record HD videos & has an HDMI port to plug into your TV
- the internet even w/o 4G is pretty fast
- rooting it has all these other options that are available like a FREE app to wifi tether to your cell phone (using it now connect my laptop to the internet) where the Sprint wants $30 A MONTH to use the similar functionality

Cons:
- none thus far for me
- some issues others are reporting are the screens are lifting up
- battery drains fast, but many of the hacks optimize for battery usage, there are a ton of apps that run in the background, plus bluetooth, wifi, 4G/3G radios running too all drain, but you can turn all that off unless you need it. I just carry my USB cable with me

here's a speed test screen shot from his EVO 4G:
