Man, this "pre-press" stuff is nit-picky! (I just want some brochures...)

If you are designing in InDesign and need to provide the native files to a printer, you use the File/Package function, which collects all your placed images and used fonts into a "Package" along with your INDD file and a text document which lists things such as placed graphics, fonts, etc. Then give the entire package to the printer. Alternatively, you can give a PDF mechanical to the printer if that is acceptable to them, which has the fonts embedded in it.
