Actually, Al Quaida, Osama Bin Laden and the WTC were not under everybody's radar. I knew a well placed person in the government who was an expert on Bin Laden and continually called for attention and awareness to Bin Laden and his promise of renewed attacks. He was ignored, drummed out of service and eventually killed on 9/11 with the collapse of the WTC.
Our government chose to ignore warnings and evidence related to Bin Laden and attacks.
On Bush:
Having traveled the world a bit - and to some relatively "banana republic" nations, I can say that the American people would look upon an election where the vote came down to the district that was governed by the brother of the candidate as a sham.
Of course, we're "America" and that kind of tomfoolery would never happen here...
