I feel liberated: just permanently deleted my facebook account

The only GOOD thing about Facebook is the ability to like a business and follow what they are doing. I find that a business website is usually static but they post all kinds of deals or special events via Facebook. I think it is far more useful for that purpose than for keeping track of friends. They could do the same thing via an email list but I think Facebook is far easier for most smaller companies. Just logon, post the daily deal, logoff.

The social media marketing trend is a pet peeve of mine. It really isn't that hard for a company to create a coupon, set up a giveaway on a website, or send an email blast. Why involve facebook at all? I don't care to follow any business or actively promote one to my friends.
