Jobs got a buck a year AFTER they bought him a Gulfstream jet and gave him a huge pile of options in the late 90s when he went from being iCEO to permanent CEO.
The jet was akin to a cash payment up front. Without a doubt he earned whatever he made on those options in subsequent years.
This sounds similar. Less jet, more cash. I'd guess there won't be huge additional equity in his compensation going forward.
