Actually, one case involved same-race vs different-race marriage, and one case involved same-sex vs different-sex marriage, and both cases involved whether the majority could withhold rights from people based purely on their own personal views regarding marriage. The parallels between the cases are remarkably similar, right down to the arguments made by the proponents and opponents.

I agree with you except for the text in red, which is nothing more than a vague opinion purporting some kind of undefined superiority of different-sex marriages in society and thus irrelevant to any meaningful discussion.
