Will Republican rules allow a White Knight or Mighty Mouse to save the day if there is a stalemate?
#14
Oh I forgot Chris Christie, he was an early and strong favorite too.

The story I've heard on why conservative favorite and IMO smartest of the contenders Mitch Daniels would not jump in is that he did not want his family and imperfect marriage subjected to the Gingrich treatment, and he wanted the GOP to take social conservative issues off the table and focus instead on fiscal conservative issues, which he believed were the winning issues for Republicans in 2012. Failing to get those assurances, he said no thanks.

(When Daniels was at Princeton in the 70's he was arrested for drug possession and spent a few days in jail. Not exactly a Rick Santorum choir boy.)
