Don't blame that brouhaha on the President, Belty. Not his fault at all. He deserves credit for working it out.
I disagree. He made the initial decision to not do the compromise, even though key advisers like Vice President Biden and then Bill Dailey pointed out the political problems.

For those who have a problem with the initial decision, he gets some measure of blame for doing that. He also gets credit for working it out. (Parenthetically, I DO realize that there are still some issues to be worked out in the implementation... it will be an imperfect solution)
