Actually, Amazon is opening distribution centers in California I believe.
But I think they were avoiding that because then they would have to charge sales tax. But CA said affiliates count too, then there was a deal struck between the two. And I think Amz agreed if CA would hold off for a year.
Yes, and the deal is going to expire very soon. So, if they have to collect taxes in CA anyway, they can build their centers without any additional penalty.
It's probably important for them now that they are less cost competitive to B&M stores.
