Of course the first thing that came to mind was jokes about physically sleeping on those hard Apple products.
Anyway, yes a quad-core mini will be faster than your Mac Pro 1,1. If you look at any of the benchmark sites you will see how far down on the list the Mac Pro falls. Pretty much any quad-core i5 or i7 machine will kill any of the older Mac Pros, especially the 2.66GHz 1,1 model. I have the same machine, by the way.
But you sure can't stuff four hard drives inside a mini or MacBook.
