Is that sufficient in having her car's driver's side window tinted? She could ask for a dr. note if needed be.

No. But a doctor's note *will* allow her to attach temporary shades and tint devices to the front side windows as long as those devices comply with the CVC

Not true. It's an officer safety issue and pro-active police cite for that alone, all the time, at least around here. True though, a lot of people never get stopped.


Good luck getting a shop to sign anything like that.

True, regarding illegal tinting. However if they apply the clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays, a note or invoice from the shop stating such is required. But unless that material is damaged, nobody but you will know it's there in the first place.
