FWIW, Chrysler is not 'owned by the Italians'. Fiat (a private Italian company) is majority owner. The other major owner is the UAW Pension plan.

Fiat did get a LOT of its share in Chrysler for FREE during Bankruptcy... a sweetheart deal.. maybe. They also paid back bailout loans, took on debt, etc...
