Ca Bob, I wish your sentiments would happen, but with 50% of people voting conservative, knowing full well the history, this implies that the reactionary movements will not die out, but are seemingly becoming stronger. If Romney wins, and if the Senate also goes Republican, I'd say there is a strong chance that Roe vs Wade will be overturned, and Mississippi's experiment with killing off women's health facilities will gain traction in other states and what the "sexual revolution" made happen will get reversed. The United States has been heading socially rightward ever since the 60's and 70's ended. Remember that the next President will most likely replace 2, if not 4 Supreme Court judges.
