Your dreaming Hal... Students in general are not aware of the electoral college.

Yes it is covered in Government classes but those are not a major component in schools. It may be touched upon in a History class but it would not be dwelt on as it is not a purpose of that class. In the coming years it will only get less attention as the Common Core education standards now adopted by every state except Texas.

As a Teacher, I could astound you with what is NOT taught in schools. We want to teach the material but are not allowed because it is not in the required standards.

To anecdotally prove that students are not versed in the election process, I just quizzed my 16-year-old son. He was completely wrong in his belief that the presidential election was a direct election. This is a boy who knows his at a college level. Trust me - he now knows what the electoral college is and how it works but he likely would never have learned it in school (especially with history being discounted for math and science)
